Stephen E. Hoey

Steve has over 30 years of experience in the private equity space, building infrastructure at several firms which became brand name international private equity leaders attracting billions of dollars of capital from institutional, government pension plan and sovereign wealth investors. 

 

Steve has extensive experience with SEC compliance, investor relations, acquisition, development and retention of professional talent, human resources, implementation of IT solutions for investor as well as internal reporting, and hiring and supervision of outsourced professional resources including financial, tax, legal and information technology.

 

Steve currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Vertica Capital, a venture capital firm focused on early stage software investments.   Previously, Steve was Administrative Partner, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer at KPS Capital Partners for over 12 years.  At KPS, Steve helped build the finance, operations and compliance functions as KPS grew from less than $600 million to over $6.0 billion of assets under management and from less than 15 to more than 40 employees. 

 

Prior to KPS, Steve was the Chief Financial Officer at the Quantum Industrial Family of Funds at Soros Private Equity Partners (now known as Towerbrook).  Earlier in his career, Steve held finance positions at Stonington Partners (spun off from Merrill Lynch Capital Partners) and General Atlantic Partners. 

 

A thought leader in the private equity industry, Steve has served on numerous industry boards and counsels, spoken at many industry events, and received the 2017 Private Equity Leadership Award at Private Equity International’s annual CFO/COO Forum in New York.

 

Steve received a BBA in accounting from the University of Notre Dame, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
