Maurice W. Murphy

Operating Partner and CEO of UPG (Turnspire portfolio company)

 

Maurice has over 20 years of experience as an accomplished executive of multi-unit international companies. He is the CEO of former Turnspire portfolio company UPG and serves on the Board of Managers of Turnspire portfolio company Daniel.

 

Additionally, Maurice was previously Chairman and Operating Partner of Avkem International, a supplier of chemicals and equipment for the metals industry. Over the past six years, as the founder of MWM Global Partners, Maurice completed numerous turnaround, acquisition, integration, carve-out and sale projects in sectors including engineered products, chemicals and basic materials.

 

Prior to MWM, Maurice was the CEO of PPC Insulators, a global manufacturer of high voltage insulators, with factories in eight countries. During his seven-year tenure, Maurice grew PPC sales from $80 million to $250 million and executed the sale of this Private Equity backed business.

 

Earlier in his career, Maurice spent 15 years at Morgan Crucible in general management roles of increasing responsibility and was CEO of four multi-site businesses.

 

Maurice has a technical background and holds six patents. He received his B.S. Engineering – Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada and completed a program on International Management at IMD, Lausanne, Switzerland.
